How about some straight answers, for a change?
“It seems like politicians have a limitless desire to be all things to all people. They twist themselves into knots, trying to find the perfect sound bite. Well, that’s one of the benefits of not being a politician. I’m going to call it like I see it. We’re not always going to agree on every issue, but you’ll always know where I stand, and I’ll always listen to every side of the debate.” - Diggs
The Second Amendment
My position is pretty simple: “The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” Period. I’m a Green Beret. I know what it means to fire a gun in anger – and when someone else is firing back at you.
Life
I am pro-life, and I believe in the sanctity of all human life.
Marriage
Marriage is defined as between a man and a woman. We can extend certain rights to all citizens, such as hospital visitation and joint ownership of property, without creating a new legal classification.
Water Storage
I support the construction of the Glade Reservoir. We need to store our water resources to preserve our agricultural heritage and keep farmers and ranchers on their land. I’m going to continue to fight to make sure Glade and other projects are built.
The Death Penalty
I support it.
Education Policy
The primary decisions about education policy should be made by parents and teachers and local school boards, not in Washington DC. Let’s take most of the federal education money and block-grant it back to the states. The money that’s left over should be invested in the classroom to create more opportunities for math and science education, personal finance classes and vocational education. I also support a home schooling tax credit, school choice and merit pay for teachers.
Card Check
Card check takes away the rights of workers to have a secret ballot in union elections. It’s a union power-grab that tramples employees and destroys small business. See the section “Create Jobs”.
Immigration
I look at illegal immigration as a national security issue, first and foremost. We should know who’s coming across our borders. I would increase border security and give our border agents the resources they need to protect us. We must streamline our legal immigration process and expand our work visa programs so that there’s less incentive for people to come here illegally.
Cap-and-Trade
Of course we should reduce air pollution. We all have a stake in a cleaner environment. But proposed climate change legislation will devastate our economy. I oppose “cap and trade” – it will raise energy rates and destroy jobs.
