Doctors and Patients, not Bureaucrats and Lawyers

The only two people who should be involved in a decision about health care are the patient and the doctor. If you want to reform health care, start by reducing the role of government in the process.

Give power back to the patients. Let them choose the health care plan that’s right for their families, free from the heavy hand of government overregulation. End frivolous lawsuits. Make health care costs tax-deductible for the individual and allow people to purchase insurance across state lines.

True Patient Choice

Individuals should be empowered to choose the health care plan that’s right for their family. Health insurance costs – including premiums – should be fully tax-deductible for individuals, not just for companies. People would be free to take their insurance with them when they change jobs, reducing costs and providing more options for coverage.

Lower Costs

We need to expand competition in health care. More insurers and providers competing for our health care dollars will lower costs. We should allow health insurance companies to sell plans across state lines, giving consumers more options when they’re looking for the coverage that’s right for their family.

End Frivolous Lawsuits

Too many health care providers practice “defensive medicine”, ordering needless – and expensive – tests and procedures because they’re afraid of being sued. Ending frivolous lawsuits will reduce the cost of health care and reestablish the bond between the doctor and the patient.
