Experience Matters
The single most important vote a member of Congress can cast is the vote that sends our men and women in uniform into harm’s way. We face existential threats from a hostile world, yet too many in Washington would have us turn away, focus only on domestic issues and follow the path of appeasement and accommodation. How soon we forget.
Now, more than ever, experience matters. Now, more than ever, we need people in Washington who have seen our enemy up close, who have worn the uniform, and who have fought for our freedom.
Win the War on Terror
Make no mistake: Our enemies are actively plotting to kill American civilians. They seek to send us back to the dark ages, execute “apostates” and subjugate women. That may sound blunt in today’s politically-correct world, but there is very little “grey” on the front lines of the War on Terror: The enemy we are fighting is evil and must be defeated.
Strengthen Our Military
The most important component of our military strength is the fighting men and women in our armed forces. We need to continue to recruit the best and the brightest, provide them with the best training, and supply them with the next generation of cutting-edge military hardware. Do not use our military as a political football.
Be Prepared in a Dangerous World
Afghanistan’s fate is in the balance. Al Qaeda is resurgent in Africa. Iran and North Korea are building nuclear capabilities. Russia seeks to reestablish their former empire. China is building the capacity to project global military power. Throughout history, every time America has slept, the enemies of freedom have plotted. I will never stand by and let America become complacent again.
